It's a wonderful New Year and Friday morning here on West 8th Street!
Or at least from what I can see from here it looks quite fine.
My view has changed, although temporally but I can see from my vantage point that all is well in the neighborhood.
This will be somewhat of a short post since your author has many items to take care of this morning and afternoon.
I hesitate to bring up the reason for my change of location but I supose that it will all come out in the wash eventually.
And again, I'm never sure if anyone is actually reading this authors work but I'm always aware that it is surely possible.
But nevertheless, I am here, healthy and all that is around me is the same!
We have, as of the new year installed a new mayor (Bill Gluba) and a few new Alderpersons.
Mr. Gluba, this author wishes you well and hopes that you will help bring, along with your co-conspirators some much needed sanity to our fine city.
For the most part, I am willing to ignore for now your affiliation with "Davenport ONE" (....and no, we are NOT Davenport ONE). And I truly believe that you will not ignore the citizens of this great city and their hopes for better streets, utilities and services.
Believe it or not Mr. Gluba, but the fact does not escape most of us that this great city needs to "grow". It needs to grow in it's manufacturing opportunities, population and the amount of goods and services it provides.
Yes, money makes the world go 'round and taxes makes the city more able to provide what is needed for its citizens. Most realize this....
But what is NOT needed is established businesses being given tax breaks and so called "assistance" in allowing them to make more profits, above and beyond what is considered natural.
It has become a national endeavor it seems for businesses to not want anymore to make money but to make a lot of money.
It is of my opinion that is why we have seen businesses such as liquor and convenience stores and motels being taken over by those from other countries. These people understand the value of a days work and are not overtly trying to make "millions". All they want is to make a comfortable living...nothing more, nothing less.
I realize that I am wandering from my original point and my original promise to keep this post short, so I'll busy myself elsewhere for now.
As the sun rises in the East over our fair neighborhood this author wishes you a good day!
